The Devonian stratigraphic sequences of the Blantyre Sub-basin in the central part of the Darling Basin, New South Wales and in the Adavale Basin in south central Queensland have been reviewed and correlated, and are broadly comparable, but the former is in a more intracratonic or proximal situation than is the latter. The three major units of the Blantyre Sub-basin can be correlated with the eleven lithostratigraphic units of the Adavale Basin. The information obtained is particularly relevant to an understanding of the petroleum prospectively of the Blantyre Sub-basin.
