Abstract

The recent convergence outcomes of faster group iterative schemes from the Modified Successive Over-Relaxation (MSOR) family have initiated considerable attention in reconnoitering the comportment of these methods in the solution of partial differential equations (PDEs). In 2011, Akhir et al., 12 formulated a new four Point-Explicit Group MSOR (EGMSOR) which was shown to have greater rate of convergence than the other two four-Point block methods (EGSOR and EGGS) in solving the Helmholtz equation. Akhir et al., 14 formulated the four-Point Explicit Decoupled Group Modified Successive Over-Relaxation (EDGMSOR) method in solving the same problem, where fewer iteration counts were required when compared with the original four-Point EGMSOR method. The aim of this paper is to present four-point Modified Explicit group MSOR (MEGMSOR) method and to show that it is faster than the four-Point EDGMSOR and four-Point EGMSOR methods. © 2015 Mohd Kamalrulzaman Md Akhir et al.
