Nanocrystalline TiO2 was prepared using sol-gel hydrothermal method to be used as photoelectrode material for dye solar cells (DSC) employing continuous stirring of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and deionized water at 70°C for 6 hours. TiO2 nanopowder was obtained after calcinations in air at 400°C. The samples were characterized using FESEM, TEM, XRD, BET and UV-Vis optical absorption. This paper discusses the effect of surfactant used on the physicochemical properties and the efficiency of the synthesized TiO2 photoelectrode to convert light into electricity.
