In this paper, we study and analyze the robustness of chaotic tent map. Robust chaotic maps with wide robust region are favored in communication especially in cryptography to extend key length. Chaotic tent map has robust chaos for control parameter μ = 2. Perturbation of control parameter value beyond 2 results in orbit divergence towards infinity. Thus, to keep trajectories chaotic we propose a modified chaotic tent map using modulo and scaling operations. These operations keep chaotic orbits globally stable and robust. In results, the robustness of chaotic tent map and modified chaotic map are compared using bifurcation diagram. © 2013 IEEE.
