Photoelectrodes of TiO2 aggregates are found to have increased power conversion efficiency of dye solar cell due to their enhanced light scattering and large surface area. Different water content in ethanol solution was used for the process of hydrolysis to form aggregates in order to study the effect on the performance of dye solar cell. Aggregates with mean size of 0.45-0.1 μm comprising of nanocrystallites of 20 nm with deviation of ±3 nm have been synthesized and characterized using FESEM, XRD and UV-Vis spectroscopy. From IV-curve, sample prepared with the lowest water content shows promising characteristic for dye solar cell (DSC) application with shortcircuit current density of 10.02 mA.cm-2, open-circuit voltage of 0.74 V and overall efficiency of 4.46. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.
