Abstract

This paper deals with the heat exchanger analysis; plant identification based on empirical modelling and Fuzzy logic controller simulation using MALTAB. In the first part, the plant transfer function is derived based on process reaction curve obtained from a heat exchanger pilot plant. Subsequently, the model is used to represent the heat exchanger throughout the analysis in the next part. Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) toolbox developed by MATLAB is used to generate the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) in designing a Fuzzy logic controller. Finally this paper describes the control performance of PI and Fuzzy logic controllers and the conclusions made based on these control performances. The results show that the control performance for Fuzzy controller is quite similar to PI controller but comparatively, gives a slightly better response.
