Corrosion problems at hydropower plant facilities have long been a source of worry, causing considerable operational and maintenance challenges. Hydroelectric power facilities, which are important in the global transition to renewable energy, contribute significantly to electricity production. Nonetheless, chronic corrosion concerns endanger the sustainability and integrity of these facilities. Numerous publications, including articles, reviews, and case studies, have addressed the corrosion difficulties faced by such facilities over the years. However, a bibliometric review in this topic has been evidently lacking, indicating a significant gap in the available research literature. Hence, it is crucial to offer guidance on this subject, allowing academic writers to improve their future research by revealing the current state of research on corrosion issues in hydropower plants. The purpose of this study is to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the available literature on corrosion issues in hydropower plants and to provide a picture of the research status from 1990 to 2023. A total of 304 documents were collected from the Scopus database and analyzed on VOSview software. The results indicated that most of the published documents were articles, with China being ranked as the leading country in this field and English being the most widely used publication language. However, the analysis found a lack of international collaboration in this field of research. The most co-occurrence keywords were 'Hydroelectric Power Plant,' 'Corrosion, ' and 'Hydroelectric Power'. This work can aid researchers on corrosion issues in hydroelectric plants for future investigations and guarantee sustainability. © 2024 IEEE.
