The latest innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) have substantially affected development in numerous industries. The construction industry's growth is significantly hampered by a variety of complicated difficulties, including cost and schedule overruns, safety and health, production, and lack of labour. Furthermore, the construction sector is one of the least computerized in the globe, making it challenging to address the issues it is now facing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a cutting-edge digital technology that is presently impacting several sectors, including manufacturing, commerce, and communications. Automation, knowledge-based platforms, machine learning, robotics, and optimization are only some of the areas of artificial intelligence that have been effectively used in various sectors to improve their bottom lines, operations, and security. While the construction sector has benefited from certain AI applications, many challenges remain that are directly related to AI. This study intends to identify AI applications and highlight opportunities and challenges for AI implementation in the construction sector. © 2024 Author(s).
