Emulsion of palm oil biodiesel can reduce the usage of diesel, promotes complete combustion and reduce both nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. The current researchers found that hydrophilic-lipophilic 7, 8, and 9, surfactant dosage 7 and 9, and water content 11 and 13 are optimum blends as emulsified fuels for the diesel engine. However, there was a gap for surfactant dosage 8 on the optimum blends.Hence, this study aims to ascertain the emulsion properties meeting the diesel fuels standard followed by visualization technique with Liedenfrost to record the evolution leading to micro-explosion.The results on all the emulsions did not show clear water after 90 days up to 114 days of visual observation indicating stable emulsion. The viscosity and density values with 13 water content were higher than 11.While the calorific values and sauter mean diameter of 11 water content were higher than 13.Micro-explosion observed for all single droplet emulsion exhibited coalescence of the small water particles into the larger diameter water particles as the main factor for the occurrences of micro-explosion. © 2023, Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd.
