The electrical characteristics of asphaltene-based organic field-effect transistors (OFET) with bottom-gatebottom-contact structure were evaluated using probe station and parameter analyzer. The characterizations were done at room temperature and ambient atmospheric condition. Its current-voltage characteristics revealed that the OFET were operated in depletion mode (normally on) and exhibited an ambipolar transport with field-effect carrier mobility in the order of 10-s\mathrmc\mathrmm²\mathrmV⁻¹\mathrms⁻¹. Furthermore, other important OFET parameters such as threshold voltage, subthreshold swing, and current on/off ratio were also evaluated. The findings offer valuable information that could be instrumental in developing asphaltene thin film as a cheaper alternative for a transport layer in organic electronic applications. © 2022 IEEE.
