Abstract

A rock physics study is an important tool for the reservoirs characterization. In this paper, we created a rock physics template for the anisotropic sand-shale interval as a function of porosity, impedance as variable parameters. These templates are basically cross-plots of acoustic impedance versus P-to S velocity ratio on vertical well-log from SE Asia. We have also estimated the effective anisotropy and Thomsen parameters and performed the AVO trend using the rock physics template. Due to the interbedded sequence of sand and shale with varying internal structure and constituents, the existence of anisotropy in the reservoir, AVO analysis is extremely challenging. We can clearly see how the reservoir properties changes due to the presence of anisotropy. © 2019 SEG
