Abstract

An early warning system is a system used to alert motorist on the existence of cyclists on road to minimize cyclist injuries and fatalities. The system will alert the motorist during safe distance before approaching the cyclist to prevent any collision happened. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is utilized as a detection for the presence of the road cyclist and alerting the motorists. Arduino is used for data processing whereas buzzer, LEDs and 8-ohm speaker are used to give an alert to motorists when nearby cyclists are a presence to ensure motorists slow down their cars. The significance of this project is to save lives by providing enough reaction time for motorists to slow down their cars and safely avoid the road cyclists. © 2018 IEEE.
