Manual fertilizer spreading process can be inefficient as the amount of fertilizer spread may be too little or too much. This study explored the potentials of innovating the fertilizer distribution on crops in the agriculture sector through implementation of technology. Providing the right amount of fertilizer at the right time can improve crop yields and food productivity. Hence, this study intends to provide an easy and efficient way for farmers to conduct fertilizer spreading process. The proposed system, iFeeder, allows users to conduct a quick soil analysis, observe the results and dispense fertilizer on crops via a mobile application. In short, this research potentially provides a significant value and great impact to the farmers and agricultural technology research fields with the attempt of adopting mobile application, sensor and microcontrollers in dispensing fertilizer on crops and monitoring soil condition in the agriculture sector. © 2018 IEEE.
