Children these days can be seen not only drawing on paper but using mobile or tablet devices whether at home or at school. Increasing number of studies have been conducted on children touch gestures and patterns. However, so far there has been no study on the relation of children touch interaction with drawing actions. This study examines how children present meaning making drawings of characteristic motion and emotion in a graphical representation but in the context of using touch surfaces. We plan to use a sketching tool that acts as a drawing canvas to gather children's sketching profiles of these types of drawings and to gather the pattern of drawing strokes among children. Our work will be looking into children drawings of age between 5 to 11 years old; from pre-school to primary school. Touch-based drawing tools for children in the market seems to be designed from the perspective of the developers. Our work on the other hand aims to reverse engineer, study children's drawing behavior and pattern to inform the designers. In the end, we hope to shed a light regarding children's drawing behavior and pattern for the purpose of developing a better touch based tool in the future. © 2017 IEEE.
