Abstract

Cooperative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) approach combines the principles of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Cooperative Learning (CL) and has the advantage of promoting deep learning and effective teamwork in students. Integrated Project in this paper refers to project that requires students to apply knowledge cross subject in problem solving. This paper describe the approach used in implementing the Integrated Project for Reaction Engineering and Separation Process II subjects for Semester 4 students taking Chemical Engineering. The problem for the Integrated project was crafted using the principles of problem crafting for PBL. The implementation cycle of the Integrated Project, and how it fits the CPBL principles, constructive alignment (CA) and How People's Learn (HPL) framework will be discussed. The activities done during the different CPBL cycle, including the scaffolding activities will also be describe. The outcome of the integrated project in terms of attaining the 4Cs skills, i.e. communication skills, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills, is measured through the analysis of students reflection at the end of the CPBL cycle. Overall, students' reflection indicated that the challenge of the integrated project has helped them to attained the four critical skills. © 2017 IEEE.
