This preliminary study is aimed to determine whether the implementation of Cooperative Learning Strategies will improve the students learning in Well Stimulation Technique class and to discover the perception of students towards such approach. The benefits of cooperative learning (CL) have been well established. It is therefore proposed in to incorporate two Cooperative learning strategies, namely the Jigsaw method and the Student-Team-Achievement Divisions (STAD), on some of the course content, replacing the traditional instruction method. The instrument used to measure the students learning are the summative assessment and reflections of the students. The result shows an increased from B grade to B+ grade of the mean score in the final exam. The cooperative learning method implemented also successfully builds up the soft-skills, teamwork and ability for self-directed learning of the students. © 2017 IEEE.
