Mr Afnan Amirruddin is a lecturer and the course coordinator for Structured Algorithms and Programming subject. We offer students education in problem solving basics, computer hardware, software and ethics using Python computer scripting as a medium of teaching.
Previously, he worked as a Data Engineer for the Centre for Research in Data Science (CeRDaS), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He collaborated with several PETRONAS groups in Big Data and Predictive Analytics. Being involved in industrial prognostics applications, he gained valuable first-hand experiences in data analytics and machine learning algorithms. He is also engaged with server management, database management, server configuration and web design. He is also very meticulous with server cleanliness and housekeeping.
He is also a co-founder and Managing Director for Information Technology Graduates (InTeGra) Solutions. This company was established in March 2022 along with other great business partners. His primary responsibility as the Managing Director is to handle IT project management for the company's IT projects. He believes that having a strong leader can lead the team to be more efficient and productive, and this is the path that he is trying to achieve.
His Master's degree research focused on optimizing Support Vector Regression in imputing missing values in a dataset. During this research period, he published a research paper in a SCOPUS indexed journal and was involved in a paper for IEEE's International Conference on Big Data Analytics (ICBDA). His research thesis was presented and defended on October 6th, 2021. He completed his studies in January 2022.
