Short Biography:

Dr Ooi Boon Yaik obtained Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in 2004, Master of Science (Computer Science) in 2007, and PhD in Computer Science in 2012, all from the School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He is Professional Technologist registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), a Senior Member of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, and an Associate Fellow of the Asean Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET). His research interests include Distributed Computer Systems, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) of Things (AIoT), Smart Factory systems, AI for Instrumentation and Measurement, and Software 2.0. Beyond academia, he also active in industry and have served as a technical consultant for several small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia.

His research focuses on AIoT with an emphasis on data engineering across various domains, including manufacturing, retail, and environmental monitoring. I hold several professional certifications, including HRDF Accredited Trainer, ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), and TRIZ Level 1 and Level 2. He is passionate about bridging theoretical computer science with real-world implementations, aiming to drive innovation through practical, scalable technologies in distributed and intelligent systems.
