Muhammad Luqman Bin Hasan is a lecturer at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS since 2015.
He did his PhD in Geosciences at the University of Szeged, Hungary (2024). His PhD research topic is about modelling and predicting fracture properties in fractured crystalline rocks using statistical and machine learning approaches. He obtained his Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering degree from Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom in 2014. Prior to that, he completed his bachelor's degree at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia in 2012, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Petroleum Engineering majoring in Production and Drilling Engineering.
Muhammad Luqman is actively involved in Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences-related research. His current research interests focus on understanding and evaluating fractures in reservoirs using various approaches that utilize geophysical, seismic, and petrophysical data. He has previously conducted some research and studies related to drilling fluids, sand control and flow assurance. He has received multiple research grants at both national and international levels for his research projects.
Moreover, Muhammad Luqman has also conducted various research projects in teaching and learning and received numerous research product awards obtained through various competitions at international and national exhibitions since 2015. His innovative methods to improve teaching and learning strategies have been published in various indexed journals.
He is currently a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
