• Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr Yew Ming Chian received his B. Eng. (Hons.), M. EngSc and Ph.D in Engineering from the same Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya (UM). He is actively engaged in research activities. His main research area is on (i) Formulating Water-based/Solvent-based/Epoxy-based Intumescent Coatings in compliace with BSEN standards, (ii) Structural Fire Protection Engineering, (iii) Renewable Energy, (iv) Cool Roofing Technologies System, (v) Construction & Buildings Materials and (vi) Flame Retardant Polymer-based Materials. He is an outstanding inventor by filing ten (10) intellectual property rights and won >thirty (30) international level awards in invention fairs/competitions. He serves as an outstanding and recognized reviewer for several SCI-Q1 journals. He has published > 90 technical papers, 4 invited books and 3 book chapters. He also serves as an Editorial Board Member and Lead Guest Editor for materials, cool roofing and coating technologies topics. He is also actively engaged himself in consultancy work with several companies to work out the industry issues. On professional qualifications, he is a Professional Engineer (Ir.) registered with the Board of Malaysia Engineers (BEM), Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council UK, Professional Technologist (T.s) registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologist, Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) Malaysia branch (MIFireE), Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM) and Associate Fellow of ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET).
